Understanding Behavior as a Dog's Language
My name is Elaine,
I am a student at Marblehead Community Charter Public School in Massachusetts. My 8th Grade Community Service Learning Project is on understanding dog behavior to prevent aggression, bites, and unsafe situations. My goal for this project is for people to have an easier time getting information and learning about this topic and not going on a large scavenger hunt. I personally relate to this problem because I got my first dog in first grade and she is a strong-looking reactive dog. My mother didn't want her reactive anxiety to turn into aggression. Over the past eight years, she has been working to learn more herself, working with trainers, and actively researching dog behavior. I am deeply interested in and fascinated with dog and animal behavior in general.
“The more we practice observing and ‘listening’ to our best friends, the better we will be able to help them feel safe, confident and happy.”
